Wednesday 7th November 2012 Tonight sees just the five players battling it out for the prize. Which despite the small numbers was still a not to be sniffed at £30. Mainly due to the VM re-buying twice. Not his fault obviously just lots of bad beats. The first real action of the night had Dave pushing on a blag with 5 duece of Clubs. After the flop he's up against JJJ but still manages to hit a flush. Then comes Alan pushing All in with 7 7 after bleeding chips for an hour. Ken calls with KJ the board comes out 10 8 J All Alan needs is the 9 which comes on the river, unfotunately it was preceded by a Q on the turn giving Ken the high end. And the tone was set for the night. Dave then re-buys after a battering from Ken's full house. Kelly pushes with K Q off Alan stupidly calls with K J and loses all his chips AGAIN !!! By 10 O'Clock it is clear that we are doomed by Ken and Kings. He's held them 3 times. Dave raises big with 9 9, Kelly calls with K J. The flop shows J 5 2 giving Kelly the lead, the turn is a 9 giving Dave the lead and the River is a J which for a second the table thought gave Kelly the hand until the Full House was spotted. Kelly finishes 5th. Alan pushes with J 8 just for the hell of it and is called by Dave holding A 7. Alan hits trip Jacks and Dave finishes 4th. Linda is next to fall to a pair of Jacks from Alan. Heads up. It is clear that every time Ken has a King in his hand it hits. Demoloised Alan Goes all in with KQ, Ken calls with J9 and hits trips on the river. A well desrved but at times a little fortunate win for Mr Kirk. Wednesday 31St Ocotber - Halloween We welcomed some new/old faces tonight. H and Tracey and also Jordan AKA Katy Langley. It was almost like the old days. 9 Players sat down squeezed onto one table to keep warm on a cold
evening. The prize for the best costume
went to the VM as he was the only one who bothered. And is still scrubbing fake blood of his face as he writes this. It was clear that 2's would be the card of the night. Quad 2's on the board split between two players. Trip 2's then make a Full House with Aces
and again was split. Within the first 20
minutes Rockets had been held three times, twice by Linda. And held up each time. This was going to be an interesting night. Ken re-bought early on and then again at the break. 5 others topped
up pushing the prize pot up to £62. Dave
make the first big move going all in for 900 chips. He hits a straight against Linda's QQ and doubles up. Tracey pushes All In with 99 only to be called by Jordans JJ which
hold up. and Tracey is 9th. Dave is next
to push with KJ off. He is called by Jordan holding 78 off (i know, shocking). Not only does jordan win but hits Quad 7's
to rub Dave's nose in it. Then comes
Ken and the All In's are coming thick and fast. Ken holds 10 J and is called by Sean holding ladies. Queens hold up and
Ken goes out having not won a hand all night, known in these circles as "Pulling a Mariner". Then a three way (not that kind). Linda All in with 72 off, H All
in with 88 and Alan All in with his most hated hand of AK. Strangely the AK holds up and we lose two more. Angela jumps next putting it all in with KK, Sean Calls with A3
Suited and hits the flush on the river to end Angela's hopes. Alan then gets his first pocket pair of the night and pushes in 19.2k in chips. Sean quickly calls and shows JJ.
Alan gets up knowing it's over and indeed it was. After agreeing to split the cash Jordan pushes with 66 Sean calls with A9 and hits the 9. After a quick count up
Sean is declared the winner. Wednesday 24th October 2012 We welcome back two old faces
from the Apple days. Paul and Angela Langley both looking fit and healthy from climbing mountains. A very quiet civilised start to the evening with chips moving round
the table. At the break Paul, Linda, Angela and Claire all took advantage of the Top up option. Putting an extra £20
in the pot. Just after 2nd chip up Claire
moves all in with AA, Ken thinks for a second (if he thinks for more than 5 seconds he folds) he then calls the all in with
a flush draw. It doesn't hit and despite the panic on her face Claire's rockets hold up. Soon after the same pair are involved in the hand of the night A raise preflop
is called, the board shows three spades. The turn is a nothing card and is checked then the River shows a fourth spade. Ken
pushes all his chips in and is Instacalled by Claire. Ken confidently turns over the King of spades quickly followed by the
Ace from Claire. Gutted is an understatement. Ken is first out. Then a family battle, Angela raises with AQ Paul calls with 7 7. With Angela all in she needs some help. The first
card on the flop is a Queen. Angela is looking confident until the Turn shows a 7. Another one bites the dust. Claire then takes a 30k pot with snowmen and knocks Linda out. Alan pushes his short stack all in with ducks, Claire risks sleeping
in the garage by calling with AQ. and of course the Queen hits putting the best player out. Heads up sends the chips back and forth until Paul pushes with AQ, Claire
calls with 10 9 (yeah really) ! The board
shows 567J on the turn, with plenty of outs Claire misses with a Q on the river. Paul takes a handsome purse on his first night. I think he may be back. Wednesday 3rd October 2012 Opening Night 6 players sat down at 7:30 as we had become fed up of waiting for Dave Martin who was busy having a shower apparently. Depsite this as it was first night we gave everyone the extra chips and our first 8,000 stack gane began. Lots of discussion was had about the format and we all agreed on the single game with longer blinds. 4 of us chose suits for the Flop £1 game. Only Sean won this but he won it twice making his evening FOC. After a break at the end of 300/600 we all had some much needed and not burnt pizza. The card of the night was "2's" coming out on almost every flop and Linda hitting Trips twice. To save face the venue manager busted out first, as it would be wrong for him to win on opening night. - (Honest that's what happened). After 3 1/2 hours we finally got down to Ken and Dave heads up. With 60k chips in play it was never going to be quick. The chip lead went back and forth until the dealer was losing the will. Then Dave made a move on Ken's short stack. After a brief " what the hell, I want to go home" Ken called but couldn't outdraw Dave who took the top prize. Well done Mr Martin. Week 2 Wednesday 10th October Just the 6 of us this week. Still expecting more players when word gets round. With the Ladies Darts team in the club too there was a good atmosphere. We all agreed to change the blind schedule to 15 minutes which proved to be a good call. The poker was more relaxed and some of it could even be described as "Not bad". Sean Rix took the early chip lead with aggressive play and I believe a fair amount of blagging. The VM had to re-buy before the break due to several really bad beats, this lack of chips was despite his awesome play. He then also topped up at the break due to yet more bad beats. Not going to be his night. Ken Kirk and Claire also topped up putting some decent pennies in the pot. The break brought a choice of Cottage pie or Lasagna with tons of donuts for desert. The ladies from the darts team came and tried our food too. Session two started slowly with everyone going tight. Then Claire hit Rockets. A raise was quickly called by Sean. The flop came with a Jack which paired Sean's. Claire puts a large bet in, Sean comes over the top only to be instacalled by Claire. The colour drained from Claire's face as the river came out a Jack. She became the first casualty of the evening. Dave was next to go losing a chunk of chips to Linda then going All In next hand. Linda loses a lot of chips to a Semi slow played set of Rockets by Alan. Then she gets them herself in the very next hand, only to hear Fold, Fold, Fold from everyone. Linda was then taken out by the massive chip stack of Sean. However Mr Rix then got the VM treatment who was finally hitting cards. And two hands later was out. Heads up with Ken and Alan. Chips went backwards and forwards. Alan took a pot with an All In then showed Ken th 7 2 off. Then 2 nothing sets of cards, big blind called by Alan. A 2 comes on the flop giving him bottom pair. But Ken checks it so Alan goes All In. After much deliberation Ken calls with A 9. But does not hit. Alan takes week two. Week 3 We welcomed back Andy Webb and for the first time Kelly Martin. Andy welcomed Kelly to the new format by throwing a pint of Guinness over her. Once we cleaned up and got Andy a new pint the play started. Claire took an early lead winning almost every hand for the first blind. In the first hour of play three players had hole cards of KK. Not only that but they held up each time. Then came the play of the night Andy V Dave Both players betting and checking followed by the other one. Eventually the board is K 9 7 Q 5. Andy bets and is called by Dave. Andy throws down Q6 and announces "Straight". Dave was a second away from mucking his cards before he asked "where"? Andy sat down and hid his face. Dave's pair of Queens won the hand. The bad beat of the night came just before the break. Claire pushed All in with 2 2, Andy thought about it then called with 8 4 off knowing he could top up if the worst happened. Well it didn't Andy hit his 8 and forced Claire to rebuy. Claire was knocked out first by Kelly holding suited 8 9 against A Q off. the 9 doing the damage. Alan then hit J J in the hole. Raised 4 times the blind and was call by Dave. the flop came down J J 7. Alan struggled not to smile. Praying that Dave hit he checked to the river. Then tried to draw Dave in with a small bet which worked. Andy then went All In with KJ against Dave's AQ. The board was a pile of crap and Andy was out. Alan then tried to double up going All In with 4,200 chips blind. Kelly was holding 4 2 off and as it was the same amount called. The board turned Kelly a full House and Alan was a gonner. Dave
and Kelly heads up only played 5 hands Eventually Dave went All in with 7,700 chips and guess what Kelly was holding 7 7.
an obvious call and the 7's held up. Kelly wins Week 3. |
